"Dear Evan Hansen: The Novel" with Val Emmich, presented by Joseph-Beth Booksellers
Co-written with Steven Levenson, Benj Pasek, and Justin Paul, the creators of the hit Broadway musical "Dear Evan Hansen", Val Emmich's new novel follows the story of socially anxious high school senior Evan Hansen. When a letter that was never meant to be seen by anyone draws Evan into a family's grief over the loss of their son, he is given the chance of a lifetime: to belong. He just has to stick to a lie he never meant to tell, that the notoriously troubled Connor Murphy was his secret best friend. Suddenly, Evan isn't invisible anymore. And Connor's parents have taken him in like he was their own, desperate to know more about their enigmatic son from his closest friend. As Evan gets pulled deeper into their swirl of anger, regret, and confusion, he knows that what he's doing can't be right, but if he's helping people, how wrong can it be?
Val Emmich is a writer, singer-songwriter, and actor. He has had recurring roles on Vinyl and Ugly Betty as well as a memorable guest role as Liz Lemon's coffee-boy fling, Jamie, on 30 Rock. His debut novel, The Reminders, was a B&N Discover selection that Library Journal called "quirky, touching and addictive."
*This event is free and open to the public. Guests who order their books in advance from Joseph-Beth Booksellers will receive a ticket to the signing line to meet Val. Those who do not purchase a book from Joseph-Beth will go through the line after those with tickets go through.
**Places for the signing line will be assigned based on when tickets are purchased. The earlier tickets are purchased, the earlier your group will be called up to the signing line. You can pick up your order - and learn your signing line group assignment - the day of the event starting at 5 pm.
***Those who order and cannot attend the event may pick up their signed copy of "Dear Evan Hansen" the day following the event. You can also call the bookstore at 513-396-8960 to arrange to have it shipped to you. Orders not picked up by 3 months after the event date will be forfeited.
