The Oliver Doering Jazz Quartet: "Tales of the City"
Tales of the City
Featuring:
Oliver Doering, guitar Steve Sandberg, piano Willie Martinez, drums Paul Beaudry, bass Kyla Quinn, vocals
New York is a city of stories and songs. Its a wildly different city if you're an Upper East Side doctor, a Williamsburg barista, an Astoria actor, or that family of pigeons who used to live on my balcony. Perhaps that's why NYC has inspired generations of poetry: there's so much to write about. There are so many different worlds within one city, and so much of it is too abstract for fiction. With a collection of songs from and about New York, the Oliver Doering Quartet presents "Tales of the City".
The Oliver Doering Quartet
Jazz guitarist Oliver Doering is the host and band leader of the long running, much loved monthly jazz show, Orange Sunday in Cologne, Germany.
He is pleased to present his latest formation, the Oliver Doering Quartet, which debuted to an enthusiastic audience in NYC in 2017, for their first ever show at Pangea.
The repertory consists of standards in the tradition of George Benson and Wes Montgomery, as well as Oliver's own originals.

Downtown's intimate supper-club Pangea is the ultimate in alt, playing home to some of the best in alt cabaret. The New York Times recently called it "a bohemian oasis not unlike the fabled Max's Kansas City from days gone by."
