Mike Block and Barry Rothman re-imagine Bach Cello Suites.
Please join us at Stubblebine Lutherie on Friday August 3rd, 8:00p.m. for a LIVE recording of Mike Block (cello) and Barry Rothman (phonographs) in a duo performance improvising through Bach Cello Suites.
Mike Block has been hailed by Yo-Yo Ma as the "ideal musician of the 20th century". With a passion for cross-cultural collaboration Mike has toured the world as a member of Yo-Yo Ma's Silk Road Ensemble since 2005. A 2017 Grammy winner Mike has performed and or recorded with a wide variety of diverse musicians including Stevie Wonder, Bon Iver, Allison Krauss, Bobby McFerrin, Zakir Hussain and The New York Philharmonic.
Barry Rothman is chief instigator of the improvisational collective Radi0Swan and a card carrying member of the experimental rock band THANK GOD FOR SCIENCE. In addition he has shared the stage and or recorded with Chris Smither, Peter Mulvey, The Suitcase Junket, Kris Delmhorst, The Blue Ribbons, Tim Gearan, Maeve Gilchrist, David Champagne, The Royer Family Band and many more.
