SOLD OUT: Politics and Prose Presents BARBARA KINGSOLVER
Since she published THE POISONWOOD BIBLE, Barbara Kingsolver has been not only a bestselling novelist but a strong moral voice for our country. Her novels have won the National Humanities Medal, the Dayton Literary Peace Prize, and the Orange (now Womens) Prize, and consistently explore human resilience in trying times. In UNSHELTERED, she gives us two heroes a century apart: Willa Knox in the present, struggling to keep her family above water, and Thatcher Greenwood in the 1880s, a science teacher whose community forbids him to share the theory of evolution. As Willa unearths the true story of Thatcher Greenwood, they learn together to find comfort in family, and in their shared hope in the future. Barbara will be in conversation with Diane Rehm, current host of the On My Mind podcast and former host of WAMU and NPRs The Diane Rehm Show.
This event is sold out.
