Sense of Place: Solutions to Save Showbox and Cultural Space
Thurs Aug 9: 7:00pm
About
Just one day after Showbox celebrated its 79th birthday came a tragic announcement that stunned Seattle showgoers: the historic music venue had been sold and slated for potential demolition. Northwest Film Forums second installment of its community storytelling series, Sense of Place: Solutions to Save Showbox & Cultural Space, focuses on ways to preserve cultural space within a city that is quickly transforming.
The evening combines storytelling, case studies, films, and live testimonials to bring together Seattles artistic community, lawmakers, bloggers and anyone who sees the benefits of a thriving art community to create dialogue, form action steps, and incite action.
It is modeled after Sense of Place: Stories from a Changing City, a successful April 2018 installment focused on homelessness and displacement.
Full list of participants and action items to come shortly.
Please RSVP or contact vivian@nwfilmforum.org and let us know if you would like to contribute a film or share a story!
