After the death of her spouse, Edie Windsor was presented with a huge estate tax bill because federal tax benefits given to opposite-sex couples were denied to same-sex couples. Offended by this, Edie and attorney Roberta Kaplan decided to sue. They and other key participants recount the legal battle that ended with the Supreme Court decision that discrimination against same-sex couples was unconstitutional, paving the way for the right to marry in every state. Additional interviews place this story in the context of an ages-long struggle.

There will be a post-film discussion with producer/director Donna Zaccaro, Andrea Composto, President of the Rockland County Bar Association, and others. Donna Zaccaro's last film was "Geraldine Ferraro: Paving the Way," a critically-acclaimed documentary about her mother, Geraldine Ferraro, first woman to run for national office on a major party ticket. Other guests will be announced soon.
