Oregon Mandolin Orchestra Mandolin Family Road Trip
Thousands of mandolin orchestras sprang up in American cities during the turn of the 19th to the 20th century. These orchestras brought audiences the voices of mandolins, mandolas, mandocellos and the jumbo-sized mandobasses. Today, the Oregon Mandolin Orchestra, founded in 2010, is one of 40 mandolin orchestras active in North America bringing the voices of the Mandolin family to you. This fall, the music selected by the Music Director of the Oregon Mandolin Orchestra, Christian McKee, will take the audience on an international journey through Europe and the Americas, from the early 20th century through today. Together, the pieces offer a taste of intriguing eras and styles, all performed in the distinctive style of a traditional mandolin orchestra.
