The Nashville Jazz Workshop welcomes drummer Bob Harsen and his band to the Jazz Cave on Friday, August 24 at 8 pm.

Bob has appeared in the Jazz Cave many times as a sideman, always contributing tasty, rock-solid grooves. It will be a treat to hear him leading his own band, featuring selections from the contemporary side of jazz/fusion, with music from the likes of Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Mike Stern, Michael Brecker, and Tony Williams. Expect to hear funky grooves, Latin, straight-ahead swing, and more! Bob will be joined by Mike Valeras (guitar), Matt Endahl (keyboards), and Brian Allen (bass).

As a graduate from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelors Degree of Music in Performance, Bob Harsen has toured/recorded/performed with Tiger Okoshi, Randy Brecker, Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Rachel Z. & Kilimanjaro while still residing in Boston. Bob also was on faculty at Berklee College of Music from 1986-88 teaching Drums & Electronic Drums, and Percussion classes.

In 1988 Bob moved to Los Angeles and toured, recorded and performed with many musicians including Richard Elliot, Melissa Manchester, Peabo Bryson, Bobby Caldwell, Eric Marienthal, Brian Bromberg, Max Bennett, Mitch Forman, Frank Gambale, Lee Oskar, Glenn Hughes, Jack Sheldon Big Band & Quartet, Brandon Fields, John Patittucci, Tim Weisberg, Steve Perry, Rikki Lee Jones, Bette Midler, Sally Kellerman, Ann Margaret, David Garfield, Jon Pena, Luis Conte, and Adam Cohen.

Bob has played the Montreal Drum Festival 2001, Clinics worldwide/NAMM Shows/Frankfurt Music Messe for Yamaha, Zildian, Remo, Regal Tip, Audio Technica, Pork Pie, Meinl.

Currently residing in Nashville,TN, Bob does session work, gigs & clinics and is endorsed by Gretsch Drums, Regal Tip Sticks, Remo Heads, DW Hardware & Audio-Technica Microphones.

There will be two sets beginning at 8:00 pm in the Jazz Cave at the Workshop. Admission is $25 / $15 high school and college students with ID. Tickets will go on sale Monday August 13 at 10AM and will be available online on this page, by phone 24/7 at Brown Paper Tickets (800-838-3006) or during business hours at the NJW office (242-5299). A small convenience charge is added to online or 800-number purchases.

Policies: The Jazz Cave is a BYOB establishment, with no alcohol or food service. You are free to bring alcoholic beverages and snacks. We sell soft drinks and bottled water. The Jazz Cave is a listening room, and we ask patrons to keep conversation to a minimum and silence cell phones. Audio and video recording is prohibited. Ticket sales are final.

The Nashville Jazz Workshop is a nonprofit organization offering classes for all ages, instruments, and levels, public performances, and special events for the community. The Jazz Workshop is located in the Neuhoff Complex at the end of Monroe Street in East Germantown.
