Annual Saturday Explorer Series
The journey continues with the most sophisticated family series in town! Designed to bring cutting-edge performance artists to young audiences, this series of Saturday shows is a great opportunity for parents to share first-class art with their kids. Sometimes whimsical. Sometimes provocative. Always excellent!
Please note that each Saturday show is different.
Saturday, March 18 at 1 pm CROW IN BOX An avant-garde theatre piece. Concerned with falling, a man ties his leg to the ceiling and constructs a miniature version of the world through audio recordings. Created and performed by inkboat
Saturday, March 25 at 1 pm ADAAWE Seven dynamic and diverse women create rich organic American and African music of the voice and drum. Spirit sent. Heart felt. This is skin on skin, wood on wood, voices on air.
Saturday, April 8 at 1 pm TEN WEST An inventive comedy show inspired by vaudeville, clowning and commedia that's at once moody, quirky and most importantly...human.
Saturday, April 29 at 1 pm ORPHEUS CRAWLING A rock-operatic, psychotropic, archeological expose of a mythological, puppet-populated underworld theatre piece. Written and directed by Juli Crockett
Saturday, May 6 at 1 pm THE SNOW CHILD An elderly couple yearns for a child so they make one out of snow. When the child comes to life, the adventure begins! This classic Russian fairytale is told with Julia Tasheva's blend of puppets and pantomime.
