Stand Up at The Strand
The Strand Theater is bringing the laughs on Friday, August 3rd at 8pm. Hosted by Comedy Works Regular Grady Dixon, you will see three unique acts to tickle your funny bones. Jaye McBride is funny, smart and proudly transgender. Jaye has traveled the world performing stand-up comedy both as a headliner and sharing the stage with comedy greats like Aziz Ansari, Gilbert Gottfried, Jim Norton & Bobcat Goldthwait. Jaye has also been a part of The Boston Comedy Festival, The Maine Comedy Festival, and the She Devil Comedy Festival. In addition to stand-up, Jaye has written, produced and acted in a variety of short films. When not performing on-stage or on-screen Jaye writes "The Comedy Blog" for the Times Union and speaks at colleges all across the country with her lecture about being transgender. Having transitioned in 2007, Jaye is uniquely qualified to talk about awkward first dates, strained family relationships and self-acceptance. Jaye is originally from Upstate NY but now calls Brooklyn her home. Rich Williams is a must see act. Headlining Comedian nominated for two Emmys. Appeared on Comedy Central, Chelsea Lately, Punk'd, The Best Damn Sports Show Period, HBO Aspen Comedy Fest, and The Howard Stern Show. Wrote for numerous tv shows on MTV, Fox, Fox Sports and E! A cerebral comic who delves into taboo subjects with the deft skill of a seasoned pro. It's amazing to watch him work. From the small upstate town of Fort Edward, Jay LaFarr was raised in a home that fostered his love of America and massive, crippling guilt and self doubt. This comes through in his standup comedy, which is funny, honest and at times disturbing. Performing over 300 sets a year for the last decade and with material that can be relatable to most any of us. A writer for children's shows and a staple of the Texas film scene, you may have seen him on Amazon Prime or Netflix, but most likely in one of the dozens of venues he performs at every year. He regularly performs with the comedians of Humor for Heroes, a non profit that raises money for various US veteran's groups
