FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What is The Commonground?
The Commonground is a series of events for artists across disciplines to meet their creative soulmates. It operates on the belief that fostering great creative partnerships leads to the creation of great art, and that great art is a service to all. We seek to eliminate barriers-to-entry and increase the breadth of exposure artists have to like-minded collaborators. Organized and led entirely by volunteers, The Commonground is free of charge for all attendees. Artists are split into three groups to participate in the centerpiece of the evening: a series of rapid-fire one-on-one networking meetings (à la speed dating). We hope to hear "We got our start at The Commonground" for years to come!
What are the details I need to know for The Commonground?
To sign-up, fill out the linked form. We will confirm your attendance as the date of the event approaches.
Can I just show up?
Unfortunately there is limited space for the event, therefore we ask prospective attendees to fill out the linked sign-up form. We will confirm attendance as we approach the date of the event. In addition to the space limitation, the central "speed-networking" feature is time-demanding. The number of attendees invited to each event is consciously chosen in an effort to maximize contact with like-minded collaborators without overstepping the events logistical constraints.
Am I guaranteed a spot by signing up? How do you decide who gets to attend?
The Commonground is dedicated to inclusivity - hence the free admission. However, due to space and time limitations, we cannot guarantee a spot at this event. The Commonground aims to encourage collaboration across disciplines, and so attendees may be chosen to ensure a mixed ratio of specialties ( i.e. we want to avoid having 45 actors meeting solely other actors.)
