Great Music on Sundays @5 presents "CELEBRATE! THE MUSICAL WORLD OF BILL RUSSELL"
Bill Russell, an internationally produced author and director of musicals for the stage, will host a concert featuring his lyrics from "Side Show" (for which he received two Tony Award nominations), "Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens", "Lucky Duck", "Pageant", "Unexpected Joy" (which recently premiered off-Broadway) and other musicals. He will share delightful insights into the creative process of writing musicals.

The concert features songs performed by Adam Berry, Ben Berry, Jo Brisbane, Marcy Feller, Halcyone Hurst, Phoebe Otis, Christopher Sidoli and Esera Tuaolo. John Thomas is the music director and pianist.

Bill Russell received Tony Award nominations for the book and lyrics of "Side Show", which received an acclaimed Broadway revival in 2014. He has directed "Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens" (book and lyrics by Russell, music by Janet Hood) frequently in America as well as the Fringe and West End of London. "Pageant" (co-author, book and lyrics) ran for a year off-Broadway and was revived there in 2014; Russell has directed productions of "Pageant" around the country and in the Fringe and West End of London. Other off-Broadway book and lyric credits include "Lucky Duck", "The Last Smoker in America", "Fortune" and "The Texas Chainsaw Musical". "Unexpected Joy", his new musical with Janet Hood, opened off-Broadway in May 2018 and will open in London in September 2018. He has a long history with Cape Cod, writing lyrics for and managing Jade & Sarsaparilla and directing the comedy team Monteith and Rand. He received honorary doctorates from the Boston Conservatory and Morningside College and was inducted into the South Dakota Hall of Fame in 2016. www.billrussell.net

This concert is sponsored by Marcy Feller and Gabby Hanna.
