CIF Presents NICE ASTRONAUT & UMLAUTILDE
The Chicago Improv Festival presents:
Nice Astronaut- Coldtowne Theater, Austin-with Drew Wesely, Calan Lambert, Nicole McCracken, Tim Honker, Jessica Marpe, Chaz Formichella
Nice Astronaut performs a very loose and free "Harold", which is the classic improv comedy show, a format where scenes build different characters and themes, and then connections are made linking them. We eschew a "cookie cutter Harold", to perform the Austin-style Harold in which following what is most fun takes precedence over structure. Nice Astronaut is the second longest running student troupe at Coldtowne Theater in the thriving improv comedy scene of Austin. It has performed in multiple improv festivals, including NYC's Del Close Marathon twice.
Umlautilde-The Torch Theatre, Phoenix-with Bob Fisher and Jose Gonzalez
Umlautilde's shows range from the absurdly ridiculous to the sublime & grounded. Primarily performing an improvised one-act play (which they sometimes bend, twist, and shatter), they explore characters brought together by fate.
Bob Fisher started improvising about 25 years ago in Chicago, performing with Cardiff Giant, Bang Bang, Second City's TourCo, and The Annoyance Theater. Jose Gonzalez started improvising about 12 years ago in Phoenix with Galapagos, Dangerville, and The Torch Theatre. They started improvising as Umlautilde in 2009 and haven't stopped.
