CIF Presents Machine A, Crab Hands and Galapagos
The Chicago Improv Festival Presents:

Machine A-The New Movement, New Orleans- is what happens when acting meets improv, when time meets fast forward, when characters meet given circumstances. Machine A is what happens when the train starts to wobble off the rails, when a couple becomes two singles, when your one great moment happens while you're busy eating a sandwich. Machine A is what happens when routine meets road-block, time meets cliff edge, baby meets grandpa-baby, crush meets expectation, end meets beginning. Machine A is what happens.
Based in New Orleans at The New Movement, Machine A is the creation of performers Cecile Monteyne and Chris Kaminstein. During the course of their fully improvised show, the pair follow two characters over time to create moments of comedy, tenderness, and dramatic climax. Machine A performs regularly at The New Movement, and also tours.

Crab Hands- HUGE Theater, Minneapolis-with Dan Jaquette, Sean Dillon, Casey Haeg, Anna Weggel, Andy Katzung, Nick Decker, Ian Fishman, Maria Bartholdi, Jordan Bainer, Kenny Pierce. Minneapolis-based Crab Hands came together in 2012 to perform The Harold as part of HUGE Theater's Throwback Night. The ten-member team immediately clicked, bonding over their love of off-kilter humor and on-stage murder. Crab Hands promises to bring fun, bad dancing and an empty promise of your money back or your money back!

Galapagos-The Torch Theatre.com, Phoenix, AZ- with Bill Binder, Jose Gonzalez, Shane Shannon, Jon Jahrmarkt. Galapagos was formed in the Fall of 2003 and is devoted to performing longform improvisation based in strong ensemble work and characters & scenes rooted in truth. Our improvisation is often in the form of Harold, a structure and philosophy of improv developed by Del Close at ImprovOlympic in Chicago, the Deconstruction, the Armando, and include longform structures that we have developed ourselves. Whatever the specific form is, a single audience suggestion serves to inspire our explorations.
