ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP:
In this workshop, Rodger Regele of Washington Lawyers for the Arts gives an overview of accounting and tax prep best practices for artists. He'll cover the different business types for artists, explain what is  and isn't  tax deductible, and offer record-keeping tips. He'll also review recent major changes in tax code with specific attention to artist businesses. There will be ample time for questions.  

*This workshop is open to artists of all disciplines and is ideal for artists generating income from their work, including sales, commissions, grants, teaching artist stipends, and other revenue, or for artists who want to understand how changes in the tax code will impact their business.

*This workshop is also open to attorneys.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Rodger Regele, MBA EA volunteers with Washington Lawyers for the Arts, providing tax law insight to Washington State artists. Rodger received his undergraduate and MBA from Seattle University and City University, respectively, and has worked across Washington State as a controller for area businesses since 1983, focusing specifically on the tax arena. Rodger has provided tax and accounting training to multiple industries, including automotive, horticulture, and real estate. He recently completed a term on the Board of Directors for the Southside Senior & Community Center, and  has also served in various capacities for the Washington Association of Accountants and Tax Professionals a group of Enrolled Agents and CPAs for which he is currently the President of the Spokane Chapter.

ABOUT THE VENUE:
The venue for this event is wheelchair accessible. The venue has identified as a non-scent-free space with gendered bathrooms. This event is service dog friendly.

Founded in 1976, Washington Lawyers for the Arts (WLA) is a nonprofit service organization dedicated to supporting the arts in Washington State by creating alliances and making legal resources accessible to artists and arts organizations of all disciplines.

Artist Trust reserves the right to cancel any program. If cancelled, a full refund will be applied. If a participant needs to cancel for a paid program, the following policy will apply:

- A full refund can be issued through Brown Paper Tickets if notified 5 days prior to the program date.

- Artist Trust cannot provide refunds or credits for missed classes. Please contact the coordinator if you have any questions regarding specific content of the workshop.

These refund policies are in place because workshops have limited space and this is intended to ensure we are able to offer the space to another attendee if notice is provided far enough in advance.
