Surreal Dream Ball
Come enjoy a night dressed in a costume, masque, or headdress inspired by your dreams and dream symbolism at Meridian Gallery! Revel in art and dreams while surrounded by the mixed media and video works of Fariba Bogzaran with special guest appearances by:
Daniel Deslauriers, PhD, scholar/artist, psychologist and professor in the Transformative Studies Doctorate at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. He trained in modern dance and traditional Balinese mask dance, and has performed in Bali, Montreal and San Francisco with different Gamelan ensemble. He will create a mix of world music for the dream dance.
Joyce Kouffman (www.JoyceJazz.com) is a Harvard-and-West-African-trained musician and award-winning music educator. She is an active composer/recording artist, and multi-instrumentalist on jazz drums, strings, classical and jazz guitar, and African-style percussion. Joyce offers musical immersions at her teaching center in Point Reyes, CA. She will be improvising music inspired by Fariba's paintings on the third floor.
Claire Peaslee is a writer, a naturalist sometimes heard on public radio, and a life practitioner of Action Theater improvisation of presence. Her home is Point Reyes where she learns continually from the living world and often leads excursions for others. Tonight, responding to the paintings and installations, and embodying the theme of this exhibition, she will offer a depth improvisation.
