Evening @ the Barn - Hollywood Unknowns!
A behind-the-scenes look at the lives and work of movie extras and bit players in early Hollywood
Film scholar Anthony Slide returns to the Barn with his latest exploration of Hollywood history. Mr. Slide will discuss the lives and work of extras, including the harsh conditions, sexual harassment, scandals and tragedies. He will also talk about Central Casting and the Hollywood Studio Club, where many famous actresses lived(including Marilyn Monroe and Kim Novak)when they were just starting out in the film business. The presentation will be illustrated with behind-the-scenes photographs, film clips and a Q&A with special guest Pauline Wagner, who was working as an extra and bit player throughout the golden age of Hollywood.
Hollywood Unknowns is the first published history devoted to extras from the silent era through the present. After the presentation, Mr. Slide will be signing his book,which will be available for purchase in the museum store.
