Measure for Measure
Method and Madness launches their sophomore season with Shakespeare's Measure for Measure, stage in an immersive cabaret setting.
"My False o'erweighs your True."
The Duke has left Vienna without warning. In his place, he deputizes his puritanical lieutenant, Angelo. Angelo's first order of business is to crack down on Vienna's dormant vice laws. Isabella, the novice sister of a young man condemned for impregnating his fiancee, goes to Angelo to plead for her brother's life. He agrees to her request...for a price. Pulled between her desire to save her brother and her repulsion for Angelo, Isabella embarks on a desperate plan that will test her faith, her relationships, and her identity.
Method & Madness seeks to make an artistic difference in the world, but also to tangibly effect and help the fight for civil rights. To that end, 10% of all ticket proceeds will be donated to a non-profit charitable organization related to the themes of Measure for Measure.
The production will be directed by Executive Director Margaret Starbuck. Margaret is a recent graduate of UCLA's School of Theater, Film and Television. At UCLA she majored in theater, specializing in scenic and production design, directing, and acting. Directing credits include Othello for Shakespeare at UCLA, Richard II for Method and Madness, and Good as New for Reprise Performance Troupe.
