THE LARAMIE PROJECT
Clayton Community Theatre presents The Laramie Project by Moisés Kaufman and the members of the Tectonic Theatre Project, directed by Jim Danek.
This play dramatizes the reaction to the 1998 murder of gay University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepard, one of the pivotal crimes in the history of LGBTQ awareness in the United States. On October 7, 1998 Matthew Shepard was discovered bound to a fence in the hills outside Laramie, Wyoming, savagely beaten and left to die. He passed away five days later on October 12, 1998 and for the next year and a half, members of the Tectonic Theatre Project interviewed citizens of Laramie, Wyoming to create this terrific piece of theatre. CCT is proud to present this important work on the 20th anniversary of Matthews death.
