A little note from the farm:
Eatwell Farm is a 105-acre organic farm in the Sacramento Valley in Northern California. In 1998 we were lucky enough to be able to buy this piece of land, located three miles north of Dixon. We have been farming organically here in Northern California since 1993. All the land is certified organic by California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF). We grow hundreds of different crops, and usually several of each in order to allow for a constant harvest for our CSA.
About the Nigel & Lorraine:
Nigel was born in Leicester, England, and studied at Writtle Agricultural College in Essex. Though the school taught production farming with chemicals, Nigel received permission to fulfill his practicum at an organic farm in Kent, England. He travelled to Israel in 1985 to study drip irrigation in a country where "if you waste water it's treason." He returned to England and farmed there until moving to California in 1992 where he worked at Terra Firma Farm in Winters.
Lorraine is Nigels Fiancee. Lorraine runs Drinkwell Softers which uses fruit and aromatics from the farm to produce delicious lacto fermented drinks which are available at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market on Saturdays and Bi-Rite Market.
