Takin the Beets to the Streets! A dinner by People's Kitchen and Phat Beets Produce
"Takin' the Beets to the Streets!" is a pay-what-you-can community dinner project between The People's Kitchen and the Phat Beets Produce. This family-style dinner will feature live music, performance, and a multi-course meal celebrating the vital food justice work of Phat Beets Produce, the history vibrant and radical history of North Oakland and the new kitchen incubation project with Crossroads Co-op Cafe!

In celebration of Phat Beets and Crossroads co-op Cafe, this PK dinner will feature a multi course meal prepared by the brilliant global food vendors of the Phat Beets farmer's market and highlight the best of local, organic, farm fresh ingredients! Meet the local farmers who grow our food and the future food businesses of the Kitchen Incubator program! Throughout the night, we will weave together food, music, and art to explore the stories of resistance and resilience in North Oakland. The evening will also feature performances from internationally-renown performance musicians and artists.

Please join us as we celebrate the deep food traditions that nourish our bodies and souls, heal the Earth, and honor North Oakland's histories of resistance and resilience.

About People's Kitchen-

The People's Kitchen is a community restaurant that couples political education and movement building with a high-end, local, organic meal that is lovingly prepared by community chefs. Each monthly People's Kitchen raises donations for local grassroots political projects and celebrates the foods of different cultures and communities in Oakland. The goal of The People's Kitchen is not only to fill our stomachs but to also nourish our souls, feed our minds, and fuel a movement.

March's People's Kitchen will benefit Phat Beets Produce, http://www.phatbeetsproduce.org. Phat Beets Produce aims to create a healthier, more equitable food system in North Oakland through providing affordable access to fresh produce, facilitating youth leadership in health and nutrition education, and connecting small farmers to urban communities via the creation of farm stands, farmers' markets, and urban youth market gardens.

We Invite you to pay what you can to support this food project. All proceeds will go to benefit Phat Beets!
