New, Newer, Newest Concert!
SOLI Chamber Ensemble's 2012-2013 Season, YEAR OF THE NEW, continues, with our second program entitled NEW, NEWER, NEWEST. Join SOLI as we bring you the hottest and latest new musicfrom 1992 to NOW. This time-traveling journey begins in 2005, with Britain's leading contemporary composer Thomas Adés' Shakespeare inspired work, Court Studies from The Tempest. We then travel back in time to 1992 with SOLI's 'Women in Music'- featured composer Tania León's Arenas d'un Tiempo (Sands of Time) followed by the first of our featured World Premieres by San Antonio's own Marcus Rubio 3 Movements for Amplified Violin and EFX Pedals. The second half of our program will begin with a recent work from 2011 by an emerging, young composer George Heathco entitled Shifting Landscape, which will lead the way to 2013, our final destination and the second of our World Premieres, EP (Extended Play) from award-winning, Houston-based composer Rob Smith.
