David Amram Quintet at Tompkins Corners
Tompkins Corners Cultural Center is delighted to welcome back the David Amram Quintet, with Kevin Twigg (drums), Rene Hart (bass), Adam Amram and Elliot Peper (percussionists), on Sunday, August 5th for the Third (mostly) Annual David Amram Concert.

David Amram is a composer, conductor and multi-instrumentalist who has composed more than one hundred orchestral and chamber music works and written many scores for Broadway theater and film, including the classic scores for the films, Splendor in the Grass and The Manchurian Candidate.

Though now 87 years old and living in Beacon, NY, he is not slowing down a bit. He has been receiving awards and honors world-wide, and recent projects include composing  two new commissioned symphonic works, performing at major folk, jazz, classical, spoken word and film festivals, working on his fourth book David Amram: the Next 80 years and being documented by film maker  Michael Patrick Kelly for a new documentary feature film about his life.

From the 60s until the present, Amram has criss-crossed the world, guest-conducting his symphonic and operatic works in Europe and Canada as well as performing  with  people in  every other type of gig imaginable, from  playing Farm Aid with Willie Nelson and his band, to festivals and concerts all over the USA, South America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Canada. Now he returns to one of his favorite venues: the Tompkins Corners "Stadium," where he and his family performed in events from live outdoor concerts to holiday pageants with their farm animals in tow.
