Hunter's Stage presents History of Tango - "Noche de Pasión"
Come experience the passion and raw emotion that is the Tango!
From the bordellos of 1900s Buenos Aires to the salons and cafes of Paris in the 1930s. The ever evolving tango has continued to make its way, from the 1960s through the present, to milongas, nightclubs and concert stages the world over. Having woven itself into the fabric of Argentinian culture, tango continues to capture popular imagination through instrumental music, song and dance.
For devotees, the tango transcends mere entertainment. It embodies a philosophy and way of life which illuminates the inner life of the human being. Indeed the sublime poetry of its songs and the subtle ferocity of its music and dance work an alchemy, which, under the right conditions, can provoke a direct experience of eternity in a single moment of life.
In this latest installment of Hunter's Stage presents, The History of the Tango decidedly forgoes the flourish of dance in favor of a curation of tangos most cherished songs including arias from Piazzollas enigmatic tango operetta Maria de Buenos Aires. This intimate recital by noted tango singer Alba Guerra and tenor Bradley Schuller celebrates the music and lyrics of Carlos Gardel, Filibierto, Hector Stamponi, Horacio Basterra, Jose Dames, Horacio Ferrer, Enrique Discepolo, Francisco Canaro, Homero Manci, Anibal Troilo, Astor Piazzolla and more. Accompanied by guitarist Marcus Dunleavy and bandoneonist Ben Bogart, the program will be augmented with a few masterpieces from tangos rich instrumental canon.
