Seattle AWIS Award for Scientific Advancement Banquet 2013
Join us for our inaugural award to honor the exceptional scientific contributions of a local scientist. Proudly announcing our inaugural Award for Scientific Advancement winner: Sheila Lukehart, Ph.D. University of Washington Department of Medicine and Global Health Asst. Dean Research and Graduate Education
Sheila Lukehart, professor of medicine and global health at the University of Washington, will be honored at the banquet for her outstanding contributions to science. The Lukehart laboratory studies the pathogenesis of Treponema pallidum, vaccine development for syphilis, and immune response to Treponema in animal models and humans, including clinical aspects of the disease. Undergraduate scholarships will also be presented at this event.
Preview of event schedule. Begin the evening with pre-dinner drinks and networking on the stern of the ship overlooking beautiful Lake Union and downtown. Then join us for a banquet featuring awards to our dedicated members, undergraduate scholarship winners, and our featured speaker Sheila Lukehart. Wrap-up the night with another opportunity to mingle and network over dessert and a cup of coffee. Event price includes dinner, dessert, one glass of wine, coffee, gratuity, and a small gift of appreciation. Please note that the ship will remain at the dock during the duration of the event.
