Gardeners who work with cactus and succulent plants know to look out for those prickly spines. Ouch! Do all cacti have spines? Why aren't spiny succulents called cacti? During this course we'll learn the difference between cactus and succulent plants.
Your guide will provide you with the information you need to help you successfully grow these plants including; basic care, watering, light, ventilation, soil mixes, container types, fertilizing, pests, and where to find more information.
There will also be potting demonstrations, tips for creating fantastic container gardens and a garden tour of cactus and succulents used in the home landscape.
If you attend this course, please do not take any cuttings from the plants you see.
Kathie Matsuyama is a California Registered Landscape Architect with a degree in Environmental Planning and Management from UC Davis. She is VP of the Central Coast Cactus and Succulent Society and has worked for the Land Conservancy of SLO County and as Acting Director of the Guadalupe Nipomo Dunes Center.
