Destressing Techniques and Healing -- Nancy Reinstein
Tuesday, September 11, 2018 10:30am - `12:30pm
Atascadero United Methodist Church
$5 for LLCC members, $10 for non-members
Your instructor Nancy Reinstein will demonstrate different de-stressing techniques. This class is experiential; you will try out the techniques. Everything that you learn you can do on your own in the privacy of your own residence.
First we will use Jin Shin Jyutsu. This practice is a disarmingly simple style of acupressure that you can use on yourself. We will use finger holds to open blocked areas. You will learn the Main Central Flow of Jin Shin Jyutsu, which can harmonize the body and bring it back into balance. It will also help you with your sleep. We will chant ancient healing sounds as a group to de-stress and heal different parts of our bodies. We will then discuss and smell different essential oils and blends that can de-stress and calm us, and uplift our mood. The essential oils can also naturally heal other issues such as breathing problems, digestive problems, pain, low energy, and bacterial and viral issues. Nancy Reinstein PhD, RD has taught this course at Atascadero State Hospital to patients; at the Senior Center in Atascadero, at Life House Transitions Mental Health, and in private homes. She has a BA in Chemistry from Cornell University, a PhD Nutrition Science from UC Davis; she is a Registered Dietitian; she taught nutrition full-time at Cal Poly for 3 years, worked as a clinical dietitian at FHMC for 4 years, worked for WIC for 3 years and worked for Tri-Counties Regional Center counseling developmentally disabled individuals and in group homes. She was a full-time Clinical Dietitian at Atascadero State Hospital for 16 years.
