The future of robotic surgery is here!
Robotic assisted surgeries topped 900,000 in the U.S. in 2017 and the numbers and types of surgeries using robots continues to grow.
You will hear answers to such questions as:
What is robotic-assisted surgery?
What types of surgical procedures are performed using robots?
How is minimally invasive robotic surgery different from laparoscopic surgery?
How safe is robotic surgery?
What is the role of the surgeon?
How are surgeons trained to perform robotic surgery?
Will human surgeons soon be obsolete?
What are the advantages over traditional surgery?
Intuitive Surgical, the maker of the da Vinci robot, will show you a mobile robot and a demonstration of its functions for the class.
The class will be presented by a Sierra Vista Hospital general surgeon who uses the da Vinci robot in his practice and a representative of Intuitive Surgical, the company that developed and sells the da Vinci surgical system.
