Canada Connections with Pianist Philip Thomas
"Are there any connections between composers living just under half a world away?" This was the question pianist Philip Thomas asked, and CANADA CONNECTIONS provided the answer.
Pianist Philip Thomas will be joining us to showcase the music of Canadian and British composers. Philip specializes in performing experimental notated and improvised music, and is known for his programs that provoke and suggest connections. This solo piano concert will demonstrate some of the interconnections and points of contact between composers who are separated by nearly five thousand miles but who share many compositional interests and concerns. This concert will be a great opportunity to hear contemporary piano music at its best.
The concert on April 12, 2013, at 8:00 p.m. will include works by British composers Christopher Fox and Bryn Harrison and Canadian composers Martin Arnold and Cassandra Miller, as well as Luke byVictoria Symphony's composer in residence, Michael Oesterle.
Come here and hear where the UK collides with Canada at the piano.
