A World Tour of Baroque Vocal Music Masterworks
La Follia continues its World Tour of Baroque Music series with a concert of secular and sacred vocal masterworks from Italy, France, Germany, and England.
Featured are familiar hits such as Handel's "Eternal Source" (from the Royal Wedding), Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Mans Desiring" and "Lobet den Herrn", and selections from Vivaldi's "Gloria". Also on the program are superb arias by Alessandro Scarlatti, Caccini, Pergolesi, Clerambault, Campra, Charpentier, Mondonville, Purcell, Fux, and Telemann.
Performing are soprano Meredith Ruduski, countertenor Sean Lee, tenor Steven Brennfleck, and bass Curt Vaughan, with four chorus voices and an 18-piece Baroque chamber ensemble, in the spacious acoustic of Redeemer Presbyterian Church.
About the venue: Redeemer Presbyterian Church is located in the revitalized area of East Austin, not far from the Metrorail MLK station and not far from the Mueller development across Airport Boulevard. There is free, ample and safe parking adjacent to the church. The venue offers excellent acoustics and sight lines, and is ADA compliant.
About La Follia: La Follia was founded in 1980, making it one of the oldest chamber ensembles of any kind in Austin. Among its numerous awards are three concerts cited as one of ten best classical music events of the year, as well as the 2016 Austin Critics Table award for overall Ensemble Performance.
