"The Songs We Hide," a new novel by Tacoma author Connie Connally, explores the role of music and art in maintaining community and sanity during the years of Hungary's domination by the Soviet Union. Come to hear Ms. Connally read excerpts from her book and to hear the exciting music of this hidden land, performed by the talented Girsky Quartet.
Formed in 2012, the Girsky quartet is one of the West Coast's most exciting new string ensembles, with violinists Artur Girsky and Natasha Bazhanov (from the Seattle Symphony), violist Julie Whitton (also from Seattle Symphony), and cellist Rowena Hammill (from the Los Angeles opera). They have already had their ensemble debut on 98.1 King FM and have performed in the Los Angeles area, the San Juans, Richmond Beach, as well as extensively in Seattle, their home city. Come enjoy an unforgettable evening of string quartet heaven at our traditional concert venue of Annie Wright School's Great Hall.
