Unit A: Mask Making Wednesdays 3:30 to 5:30 pm October 3, 10 and 17, 2018 Explore the world of masks and make a cardboard/paper mask and a milk jug mask using a variety of found objects and art supplies. Scary? Friendly? Weird? A Monster?An animal? What will it be?
Unit B: Print Making Wednesdays 3:30 to 5:30 pm November 7, 14 and 21, 2018 The world of printmaking awaits you. The After School Art class will make several types of prints: cardboard, styrofoam, transfer, mono printing and plexiglass. If you have stamping blocks, bring them with you! Well use them in conjunction with other printing techniques. How about using paints, rubber bands, string, shaving cream, printing inks, stamping pads and more?
Unit C: Paper Making Wednesdays 3:30 to 5:30 pm December 5, 12 and 19, 2018 Making handmade papers is returning! If you missed the class last year, heres your chance to learn how paper is made and to make books. OCAC has a paper studio under the direction of Kathy Baxter. She will be our guest instructor with lots of experience and ideas. Get ready for lots of water play, see a paper mill work and take home several sheets of your own paper - and a hand stitched journal! If there is time, we will make bookmarks using papers.
Unit D: Fiber Art Wednesdays 3:30 to 5:30 pm January 9, 16 and 23, 2019 Well explore Shibori - the art of folding cloth to dye with indigo dyes, Ojos de Dios - for a little good luck, work magic with Sharpies and cloth and well Go Big to make a 10 foot long wall hanging that will be donated to the Oxford Community Arts Center to display either in the hallway or the Art Education Classroom.
Unit E: Glass Fusing Wednesdays 3:30 to 5:30 pm February 13, 20 and 27, 2019 The glass fusing class will be making a Sun-catcher as well as a glass tile that tells a story. Try slumping glass into molds that create unusual forms and colors. Safety glasses and gloves will be provided along with colored glass, glue and glass tiles.
Unit F: Bird Sculpture Wednesdays 3:30 to 5:30 pm April 3, 10 and 17, 2019 Let your imagination take flight and construct a bird sculpture using papier-mâché, wire, yarns and clay. It might be 15 high and have long legs and feathers. What will you make? The sculptures will be entered into the Audubon Miami Valley Bird exhibition during the month of April.
Unit G: Photography Wednesdays 3:30 to 5:30 pm May 8, 15 and 22, 2019 The Oxford Community Arts Center will provide digital cameras for our young artists to use during class. Well take walks and explore the world of color, shadow, pattern, texture, architecture and nature. The last class will be devoted to creating a photographic journal. Photography is even more fun with friends!
