Cole Porter On Broadway
His peers dubbed him King Colea man blessed with his own wealth and his wifes. But despite Cole Porters charmed life (1892-1964), he worked as hard as any songwriter on Broadway, attracting stars like Ethel Merman, Fred Astaire and Bob Hope, polishing his sophisticated lyrics to perfection, and creating adventurous melodies and harmonies that jazz musicians savor. TMTPs fifth-annual partnership with Cleveland Jazz Orchestra honors Porters 30-year love affair with the theater, featuring selections from such musicals as Kiss Me, Kate and Anything Goes and a cavalcade of great songs including Night and Day, I Get a Kick Out of You, Lets Do It, Begin the Beguine, Just One of Those Things and Youre the Top. Indeed he was.
Hosted by Bill Rudman and Paul Ferguson | Featuring members of Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, the Joe Hunter Trio, Vince Mastro and Treva Offutt
