Welcome to Leisureville by Kimberly Patterson (Festival Reading #5)
Directed by Kavin T. Grant
Julies mother Irene has just died. Now, Julie and her daughter Lexi have come to Florida to clean out her mother's house. Lexi is more interested in flirting with the gardener. The trip is just one more item of the list of everything Julie feels like she has to be responsible for, and one final way for Julie to feel put upon by her mother. Along the way, a couple of local residents (and one handsome squatter) offer answers and raise questions, leaving Julie unsure if she'll ever get the chance to let go.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL: Each summer at the end of July, we present a three-day event showcasing readings of student work from the Playwrights Lab. These readings are minimally staged for the general public and close to a dozen theatre professionals as respondents from as far away as Los Angeles and from as close as right here in Roanoke.
These readings are presented free to the public, but there is limited seating. Many of our festival readings have gone on to be published, produced and won major awards. Come see tomorrow's stars today!
Our festival is presented in collaboration with Mill Mountain Theatre on their Waldron Stage.
