Spend those hot summer nights at The Side Yard Farm every second Wednesday of the month this summer. We started movie nights in order to bring community together and spotlight some really talented artisans here in Portland. This July we are welcoming two of Side Yard's favorites, Jackalope Wine Cellars and Nourishment PDX. On the big screen we will be showing Best in Show! Did I mention you should ride your bike?! It's a bike in movie ya'll. Ticket includes admission, dinner, wine, a sweet treat and supporting these locally owned businesses.
JACKALOPE WINE CELLARS A civil engineer by trade, Corey Schuster landed his first winery job in 2010 in what can only be called a happy accident. Since then he has worked in nearly all facets of the wine industry for a variety of wineries including Division Winemaking Company, Penner-Ash Wine Cellars, and Owen Roe. Building off these experiences, Corey launched Jackalope Wine Cellars in 2012, making a modest 90 cases of Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc. By 2014, production expanded to 500 cases of Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Viognier and Cabernet Sauvignon. Each wine has sold out less than a year after release and has been placed in some of the top Portland restaurants including Urban Farmer, St. Jack, the Woodsman Tavern, Q and Bar Avignon. In the last year distribution has expanded into Seattle with several placements, one of which is the nationally acclaimed The Walrus and the Carpenter. Corey strives to make wines that are an honest expression of place, that give voice to the special character of the Pacific Northwest, and celebrate a shared sense of community.
