DAVID-BENJAMIN TOMLINSON LIVE AT THE FLYING BEAVER PUBARET!
SATURDAY, MARCH 23rd - 7pm DAVID-BENJAMIN TOMLINSON MEMOIRS FROM CRACKTOWN
Canadian Comedy Award nominated writer/performer David-Benjamin Tomlinson returns to the Flying Beaver Pubaret with his celebrated show Memoirs From Cracktown.
Less the move of an egomaniac, and more the move of someone who is inspired to share, Memoirs From Cracktown is an autobiographical experience chronicling David-Benjamin's move into something called "adulthood." Okay maybe not "adulthood," but he's definitely not in Kansas anymore (which is true less in actual location and more if Kansas = being his early thirties).
And here's the thing (there's always a thing), nobody really warned him about all the complexities that coming of age can involve; like muggings. Life as the most hated uncle of all time. Understanding the long-term impact of Designing Women. Life on the long and winding road to success (there should definitely be more straightaways). Crabs. And as for dating? It's NOT Ok, Cupid.
Memoirs From Cracktown is about learning to embrace the Scenic Route (no matter how badly you want to get to where you're going), and loving yourself along the way (but not in a Hallmark way that would be totally gross). It's just like RuPaul says "If you don't love yourself, how in the hell you going to love somebody else?"
David-Benjamin has played to standing room only crowds from Vancouver's Sketchfest to Toronto's We're Funny That Way to Montreal's Just For Laughs Festival. He is also one of the leads on the hit web series Cordelia (youtube.com/casacordelia).
Always popular on the cabaret circuit, David-Benjamin has performed at pandemonium machine, Cheap Queers, Homo Night in Canada, and Lunacy Cabaret. He is additionally a writer of feature films, television, and radio drama. You've probably seen him on the television shows Howie Do It, Beautiful People, Train 48, Queer As Folk, and The Newsroom. He is very funny and extremely easy on the eyes.
