Historical Tour of Point Reyes Station, June 23, 2018
The Point Reyes Station Historical Walking Tours are one-hour tours led by youths from around West Marin and adult volunteers under the guidance of local historian Dewey Livingston. Local geography, prehistory and the development of the town by ranchers and railroaders are some of the many interesting topics and stories covered.
The tour starts at the Visitor Center, then heads to the overlook to the nearby Giacomini Wetlands so all can imagine what the land was like before the town was created. Then back to the streets to learn about some of the buildings and beginnings of the town, started in 1875. You will learn which building was once the train station, and was actually turned around on its foundation (so it is now facing backwards!).
