Summer in the City -- Culver City Edition
Summer in the City is one of APA Los Angeles's most popular event series. Featured monthly each summer, it's a great opportunity to be inspired, meet up with friends, and see what's going on around us in places we might not get to often enough. The second tour in our 2018 series will feature the Culver City, on Saturday, July 21.

100 years ago Harry Culver remarked, "All roads lead to Culver City." From all directions, Downtown LA to the Pacific Ocean and adjacent to the 405 Freeway, Culver City is centrally located, the crossroads of the west side of Los Angeles. It is home to media and tech giants like Apple, Amazon, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Microsoft, NFL Network, NPR West, Symantec and Nantworks. It is also home to dozens of powerhouse media boutiques, well-funded tech startups, and innovative architects and designers. The architecture of the Hayden Tract is world-renowned and contributed to the renaissance of the city's creative economy. Downtown Culver City has become a walk-able urban haven and our diverse culinary scene is exceptional. Higher education institutions are minutes away with West LA College, UCLA and USC at our doorstep.

Speakers:

Ashley Hefner, Advance Planning Manager
Elaine Gerety-Warner, Economic Development Project Manager

Some of the exciting places you'll visit include The Wende Museum, One Culver, WeWork, Kirk Douglas Theater, The Actors' Gang: Ivy Substation, The Culver Studios, Ivy Station, Platform, Helms Bakery District, Hayden Tract, Ballona Creek, and more. Topics of discussion will include Culver City's Cultural Corridor, creative offices, transit oriented developments, urban revitalization and restoration, and placemaking.

Please come dressed in comfortable attire, bring sun gear (hat, shades and sunscreen), a water bottle, and wear sturdy walking shoes. Culver CityBus will be getting us around but we will be walking as well. Light refreshments will be provided and participants are encouraged to head to Rush Street for drinks and food after the tour. Family and friends are welcomed with registration. This is the unique opportunity to show them how awesome being a planner is!

Transit/Parking: City Hall is located a quick 10-15 minute walk/roll from the Culver City and Palms Metro Stations. Paid parking is available under City Hall, first hour free, $1/30 min thereafter or $12/day.
