Holland Savaloni Duo
LEE HOLLAND Flute Currently as a freelance orchestral player Lee performs and works with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Orchestra of Scottish Opera.
Lee is a passionate chamber musician currently performing regularly with Sasha Savaloni (guitar) and also the Monzani trio, creating an ensemble with Rachel Spencer (Violin) and Feargus Egan (Cello). Competition and scholarship award successes include first prize winner of the Watford and Novgorod Russian music competition, winner of the Jellinek Concerto competition, RCS Concerto competition, RCS Governors Woodwind Recital prize, Governors Chamber music prize, John McGregor flute prize for outstanding achievement, the prestigious post graduate Musicians Benevolent award, and the Peter Morrison Prize for all round excellence in music.
SASHA SAVALONI Guitar Iranian Scottish guitarist Sasha Savaloni is currently pursuing a Doctoral degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland under the supervision of renowned performer and teacher Prof. Allan Neave. As a soloist he has given concerts in Iran, Italy, Spain and throughout the UK, performing recitals in venues such as the Kings Place (London), Sage Gateshead (Newcastle), City Halls (Glasgow), Stevenson Hall (Glasgow) and the Leeds College of Music. He has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the European Union Youth Orchestra.
Sasha has won numerous awards and prizes; In 2015 Sasha was awarded the Second Prize, the Audience Award and Prize for the Best Performance of the Contemporary Work at the Miguel Llobet International Competition in Barcelona. Other prizes and awards include 1st Prize winner of the Chanterelle Guitar Award (2010), Simon Young Memorial Award at the London International Guitar Competition (2016), 2nd Prize winner of the Ivor Mairants International Competition (2015), Finalist at the Strings section of Royal Overseas League Competition (2017) as well as being the only soloist selected for International Guitar Foundations Young Artist Platform (2014).
Torphichen Kirk provides a unique and intimate setting where you experience the music close-up. Interval refreshments are served in the atmospheric Torphichen Preceptory which adds to the ambiance of this special evening.
Doors open at 6.30 and the concert starts at 7.00.
