Erin McKeown 333 Concert
Erin McKeown is a musician, writer, activist and producer known internationally for her disregard of stylistic boundaries. She performed at 333 back in the early days (both hers and the Coffeehouse's). Since then she has gone on to reap critical and public acclaim for her work. She has grown into a singer and songwriter like no other, releasing 9 studio albums and refining a distinct and challenging mix of American musical styles. Now, at the invitation of Max Ochs, she is making a special return visit.
Erin's singing voice is wide in range and combines a cool sheen with the flexibility to deliver every detail of a lyric. Her brash and clever electric guitar playing is informed by influences from jazz to punk. A fiercely conscious artist, she's a familiar presence on NPR and the BBC. In recent years she has toured less and devoted more time to writing, producing, activism, radio work and theater. We are lucky to have this chance to hear her in our intimate venue - there's nobody like her.
333's Host Emeritus, Max Ochs, will host this concert. The evening will also feature the awards ceremony for the 2018 Benjamin Peace Writing Contest (a statewide essay contest for middle schoolers).
333 Coffeehouse is Annapolis' monthly listening space for folk and acoustic music. Inexpensive hot and cold beverages, desserts and snacks are offered. 333 is listener-centered, volunteer powered, non-profit, and smoke- and alcohol-free. 333 is a program of the Annapolis Traditional Dance Society.
