Lamar House Legacy Fundraiser
In 2004, the Oxford-Lafayette County Heritage Foundation purchased the Lamar House, built 1869-70, with an allocation by the state legislature. By 2007, $1.5 million had been secured to restore the house to its original state. In 2008, on completion of its restoration, ownership was transferred to the City of Oxford to insure the house's preservation.
How Can I Play a Part?
The newly launched Friends of Lamar Legacy will help sustain the L.Q.C. Lamar House Museum through their membership, volunteer services and sharing the work of the most distinguished Mississippian to ever serve in government.
Join us for a special dinner hosted by the Heiskell's at Woodson Ridge Farm on April 7, 2013 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM. The dinner will feature live music, libations and lucsious foods. The proceeds from this event and our new Friends of the Lamar Legacy will preserve this important historical site for future generations.
As a member, you provide support for: free admission for students, educational programming for all ages, and special events sponsored by Lamar Legacy Friends.
