Broadway Chamber Players - Season 5 Finale!
Broadway Chamber Players welcomes you as we conclude our 5th season, BCP looks back with feelings of Nostalgia. Our very first concert in 2014 seems so long ago. Since then we've performed almost 40 concerts and featured over 150 different Broadway artists!
Our concert begins with a piece composed by David Gotay. A much beloved Broadway cellist, David tragically passed away in 2015 leaving an unfillable hole in the Broadway and New York City music community. We are honored to have his work for string quartet, Nostalgia, performed by David's wife Yuko and other close friends. This was the final piece David Gotay composed.
In our first ever BCP concert we performed Dvorak's "American" quartet - a work written by an immigrant portraying the beauty and hope of the land he now called home. As we finish a our 5th season, a season we've devoted to the sounds and musical influences from around the globe, we are once again returning to Dvorak. Twelve of Broadway's best will perform the Serenade for wind instruments, cello, and double bass. A work reminiscent of an old-world style combining a mix of the sophistication and common folk melodies.
