Catch More Crab
This free program will offer you tips, tricks and rules to help you catch more crab, keep more of the crab you catch, and keep your expensive crabbing gear from disappearing forever. Sponsored by the Jefferson County Marine Resources Committee (MRC) with support from West Marine and the Northwest Straits Foundation. Presented by expert crabbers Troy McKelvey, Wade Crouch and WDFW shellfish biologist Roy Clark.
The Jefferson County MRC is partnering with the Northwest Straits Foundation to reduce derelict gear like crab pots in Puget Sound. Attend this workshop to learn from our experts about crabs, crabbing and managing for sustainable harvest.
12,000 crab pots are lost in Puget Sound each year. A single lost crab pot can kill up to 50 crabs before it deteriorates enough to allow crabs to escape on their own. That adds up to 180,000 harvestable crabs lost each year! To avoid contributing to this major lost pot problem, register for this workshop through this website or watch great videos about best practices at http://nwstraitsfoundation.org/project/recreational-crabbing-resources/ .
