CRIS WILLIAMSON with VICKI RANDLE
Legendary singer/songwriter Cris Williamson joins forces with Vicki Randle from The Tonight Show Band in a show that promises to be a singer/songwriter's dream. Gorgeous vocals, beautiful songs and an indelible impression of power and harmony.
Decades before indie labels were the norm, and years before women had any real access in the industry, Cris Williamson was changing the face of popular music. She conceived of a national all-women's record company, which subsequently issued her now-legendary classic, The Changer and the Changed -- one of the best-selling independent releases of all time. An entire sub-culture came to be around the songs and music of Cris and her contemporaries, Meg Christian and Margie Adam. A movement was established. Her out politics and pro-environment stance paved the way for many of today's artists. She is part of the curriculum in Women's Studies programs around the world. Her songs are sung around campfires and appear in hymnals and are covered by the young rockers of today. And whether she is gracing the cover of Ms Magazine or selling out Carnegie Hall three times, Cris's many and varied accomplishments are only to be overshadowed by her amazing voice.
Vicki Randle, may be best know as the lead singer and percussionist of the acclaimed Tonight Show Band led by Kevin Eubanks. For most of her musical life she has been a staple in the studio and on the road. It's a good bet you own a CD that she is credited on, have seen a video or concert she was featured in, or watched a film, tv show or commercial that features her voice. You've most certainly heard her voice, singing "Freeway of Love" along with Aretha Franklin, and seen her in the video "Kenny Loggins at the Grand Canyon, singing, playing percussion and harmonica. Versatile and accomplished, Vicki has toured, performed and/or recorded with Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, George Benson, Rufus with Chaka Kahn, Lionel Richie, Kenny Loggins, Celine Dion, Mickey Hart, the Doobie Bros, Stewart Copeland, Todd Rundgren, and Branford Marsalis. Vickis recent CD release, Sleep City, is an exquisite offering of her many styles.
