The Los Angeles Doctors Symphony Orchestra performs at the beautiful new Ann and Jerry Moss Theater. On the program:
Ludwig von Beethoven: Consecration of the House, Overture
Edward Elgar: "Enigma" Variations
Thomas Goss: Concerto Aotearoa for Harp and Orchestra, Christina Kopriva, MD, harpist (World Premiere)
Concert Aotearoa (the most widely known and accepted Maori name for New Zealand) was commissioned by the Los Angeles Doctors Symphony Orchestra for its resident harpist, Christina Kopriva. The lush concerto is in three movements: "The Domain of the Clouds," "Heartbeat of the Forest," and "Deep Blue," reflecting the air, land and sea and that make up New Zealand's unique geography. Composer Thomas Goss will be in attendance for the premiere.
The concert benefits The UCLA Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills (PEERS) which provides support for teens and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
