David Francey (ON)
A three-time JUNO winner born in Ayrshire to working-class Scottish parents who immigrated to Canada, David Francey criss-crossed Canada for decades working odd jobs, all the while writing and setting poetry to music until, in his 40s his wife, artist Beth Girdler, persuaded him to share his songs. Twelve albums later, David's honest, wry stories of real people and real places have earned him a loyal following among critics and fans. A senior statesman of Canadian folk music, the closest thing this country has to Woody Guthrie according to The Georgia Strait and also an artist, David makes his second CFC appearance in the wake of The Broken Heart of Everything (2018).

First Up: Rotary Park (AB)
Calgary-based quintet Rotary Park formed in 2011 and have criss-crossed Canada on three tours since then, serving up hard-driving bluegrass, ambient folk and tight vocal harmonies to national audiences. Call it alternative bluegrass, call it progressive Canadiana, or simply call it hot, toe-tapping, head-turning music by local heroes who are going places.
