Robin DiAngelo: White Fragility Book Talk
King's Books, in partnership with PCAF, the American Leadership Forum - Tacoma/Pierce County, and Urban Grace welcome Robin DiAngelo to talk about her new book, 'White Fragility'. In this groundbreaking and timely book, antiracist educator Robin DiAngelo deftly illuminates the phenomenon of white fragility. Referring to the defensive moves that white people make when challenged racially, white fragility is characterized by emotions such as anger, fear, and guilt, and by behaviors including argumentation and silence. These behaviors, in turn, function to reinstate white racial equilibrium and prevent any meaningful cross-racial dialogue. In this in-depth exploration, DiAngelo explores how white fragility develops, how it protects racial inequality, and what we can do to engage more constructively. Pre-order your book for the event at kingsbookstore.com/book/9780807047415. NOTE that this talk was originally at King's Books and has now moved to Urban Grace.
Robin DiAngelo is an academic, lecturer, and author working in the fields of critical discourse analysis and whiteness studies.
