***PLEASE READ THIS & CONFIRM WITH US, THAT YOU HAVE READ, UNDERSTAND AND AGREE TO  OUR 'EXPERIENCE SAFETY GUIDELINES & AGREEMENTS'

~ The Airbnb/Blind Cafe Experience Safety Guidelines & Agreements ~

Welcome to The Blind Cafe Experience!

Were excited to share this most moving and powerful experience in the dark with you.

Due to the nature of our event being held in 100% darkness, we've created standards and expectations to help ensure that everyone attending our Airbnb/Blind Cafe Experiences, has a safe and connected experience.

We ask you to read, understand and commit to the following Blind Cafe Experience Safety Guidelines & Agreements.

~

First Agreement:

Bring No Light In The Dark! ~ Please turn your cell phones 100% off ( not on airplane or vibrate mode ), take your watches off and put them in your pocket or purse and please do not bring any other LIGHT into the dark!

~

Second Agreement:

Practice Active & Mindful Listening In The Dark When the Singing Bowl Rings

~ When you hear the TIBETAN SINGING BOWL RING, please let go of your individual conversations and come together for a group experience.

There will be several times in the dark where we will all want to come together and practice active listening.

Bell 1# - The first, we have a Q&A in the dark, where the blind staff will share about their lives, you'll have a rare opportunity ask questions and learn about blindness, or disabilities and share your own experience of being in a non-visual environment.

Bell 2# - And second well have an active music listening experience of live music by our Blind Cafe Performing Artists.

~

Third Agreement:

Participate In Our Safety Guidelines!

~ Please be advised we will be in 100% darkness, it is very easy to become disoriented and you will be in close proximity of other peoples space. You will be anchored at your chair, seated by your table in the dark.

Its very important to us that you:

One: Agree to respect others space while you are in the dark.

- You will be in 100% darkness so please be mindful with your physical movements in the dark and provide personal space for yourself and others sharing the experience with you.

- The best way to do this is to move slowly in the dark and be present with how you navigate the table and the space around you.

Two: Understand that while in the dark you and others will not be able to see each at all.

- So, at times people bump into each other as they reaching out to find their drink or attempting to pass around the shared bread, or even navigating the room to and from their table guided by one of our blind staff.

- You will be in closer physical contact and proximity than most events in the light and this is part of the experience. Someone may accidentally  brush, or bump into you and you'll need to agree to be okay with that to participate in our experience.

- If you are navigating around the table in the dark, you will have to use your hands to feel the edge of the tables and chairs and you will at times touch peoples shoulders. Please use your words to communicate that you are there and just navigating the room to or from your seat.

Three:

Agree to take full responsibility for speaking up if you need help. You are responsible for speaking up if you need help while in the dark.

If you feel uncomfortable or a bit overwhelmed by the experience of being in the dark, that is quite normal.

We just ask that you:

1. .First Take Several Deep Long Breaths! Welcome and make room for any emotions of overwhelm that may be present and remember that this is part of the experience. The most challenging part of the Blind Cafe Experience is the first 10 - 15 minutes as you are acclimated to a non-visual 100% pitch dark environment.

2. Second, Check in with Your Safety Buddy Every 15 - 20 Minutes. We have a Buddy System where you will be choose a Safety Buddy ( usually whoever you are attending the show with ) and you both will agree to check in every 15 - 20 minutes or so with each while in the dark, making sure youre both feeling okay and be a support for each other while in the dark.

3. Third, Call For A Waiter To Help You! If you need a waiter to help you due to any overwhelming feelings or to attend to the bathroom or whatnot. Simply call out for a waiter! Say, Waiter Please three times and a blind staff member will come find you. If for some reason they are not hearing you, ask your table to help you and have everyone say,  1, 2, 3 Waiter Please three times again.

We'll send you a READ & CONFIRM YOU UNDERSTAND in your welcome email once you've purchased your tickets.
