Odyssey Opera ventures on two journeys this year, beginning with our celebration of the 200th anniversary of Charles Gounod's birth. Now a Boston tradition, Odyssey opens the season on September 22 with our always anticipated concert opera--this year Gounod's La reine de Saba (The Queen of Sheba). A fully staged production of Le médecin malgré lui (The Doctor in Spite of Himself) follows in November.
Odyssey's Winter and Spring offerings explore stories of love and war with three works inspired by the beautiful Helen of Troy. Including fully staged productions of Gluck's Paride ed Elena (Paris and Helen) and Offenbach's La belle Hélène (The Beautiful Helen), and Strauss's Die ägyptische Helena (The Egyptian Helen) performed in concert, this season's journey is not to be missed!
