Join The Yokels, The Detours, and Huckleberry Flint for a beautiful evening outside under the stars at Dell'Arte's Rooney Amphitheatre, behind the main building. Box office opens at 5pm and doors open at 5:30pm. Show starts at 6pm. $15 (or $12 for Humboldt Folklife Members), children 12 and under are $5.
The Yokels The Yokels are long time Humboldt County residents Steve Irwin, Glen Nagy and Bill Kerker who have been playing and singing in their magical redwoods home for more than forty years. The Yokels share a lot of history. In 1977, with steel guitarist Michael Proctor, they formed Buckshot a popular country rock outfit that was the house band at the Ramada Inn. During the next couple of decades, the band played all over the county in bars, barns, dance halls and nightclubs. Musically, The Yokels have earned their chops. Growing up in the golden age of classic rock and roll, country and western, soul and blues, folk and bluegrass, theyre steeped in the roots of American music. They call their blend Rockabilly Soul, the kind of music that makes you smile and dance. The band has years of experience playing in their beautiful North Coast home, and their love of the community and the people is reflected in their songwriting. The Yokels have made it their mission to celebrate our life on the Redwood Coast with great music.
The Detours The Detours play traditional Country Music, Americana and originals. The Detours, in their third year together, are seasoned musicians who have played in numerous local bands including Cadillac Ranch, Ghost Train, Rooster McClintock and The Trouble. They can be found playing the 4th Friday at The Mad River Tap Room as well as other venues in and around Humboldt County.
Huckleberry Flint Huckleberry Flint is a name known fondly around Humboldt County. What began as a traditional string band in 2003 has blossomed into a dynamic group that incorporates many musical influences such as bluegrass, alt-country and rock. Huckleberry Flint still stays true to the folk song convention of rearranging traditional ballads and spirituals in a new, original way; blending old-timey lyrics and melodies with electric instruments and five-part harmonies. The result is a rich, full bodied sound that is truly their own.
Don't miss this great night of music!
